Description
The OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety is an advanced qualification for learners who have, or are seeking to develop into, senior occupational health and safety roles.
It helps learners understand the legal and regulatory background to occupational health and safety policy, critically evaluate organisational arrangements, recommend improvements and translate policy into effective workplace practice.
The qualification is awarded by OTHM Qualifications, an awarding organisation approved and regulated by Ofqual. The official qualification number is 603/5002/7.
OTHM states that RQF Level 6 qualifications are assessed academically at the same level as bachelor’s degrees with honours, bachelor’s degrees, graduate diplomas and graduate certificates. This describes the academic level and does not mean that the diploma is itself a university degree.
Who Is This Course For?

- Supervisors and managers responsible for occupational health and safety performance
- Professionals who develop, implement or review health and safety policies and systems
- Practitioners seeking a regulated Level 6 occupational health and safety qualification
- Learners seeking an academic route towards OTHM Level 7 or relevant postgraduate study
- Eligible professionals seeking to satisfy the academic requirement for Certified IOSH membership, subject to IOSH criteria

- Definitions of risk and principles of risk management
- Principles and theories of safety and health management
